Is there a device to detect vaping?

Yes, there is a sensor that can detect vaping. We've got two of the most reliable vaping sensors available to buy - the Triton 3D SENSE Vape & Smoke Detector and the Verkada SV11 All-in-one Sensor. This type of technology is becoming increasingly popular due to its ability to quickly alert people when someone is vaping in an area where smoking or vaping is not allowed. Many of these sensors utilise infrared imaging and other advanced detection techniques to identify the presence of vapour particles. The sensors can be installed in buildings, such as offices, classrooms, bathrooms, and public spaces, and will alert administrators when someone is detected vaping. These sensors are a great way for businesses and schools to ensure compliance with rules pertaining to smoking and vaping on their premises.

Who Needs a Vape Detector?

Schools, offices, airports and other public places can all benefit from using a vape sensor. Vaping is becoming more common among young people, so having the ability to detect it is essential for many locations. They can be used to monitor areas for any signs of vaping, ensuring that students or employees don’t vape in school or at work. Hotels also use vaping sensors due to guests not being allowed to smoke in their rooms or lobbies. In short, anyone who wants to protect their space from potential harm caused by vaping should consider investing in one of these devices.

The Importance of Vape Detectors in Schools

The use of vaping detectors in schools is becoming more and more common. With the recent rise of vaping, schools must be equipped with this type of detector to keep students safe. Schools need to be able to detect any vaping that happens on school grounds.

In order for these detectors to be effective, they need to be properly installed and maintained by trained professionals as well as come from a reputable brand.

Why Schools Need Vaping Detectors

Schools and universities are becoming increasingly aware of the dangers of vaping. The use of e-cigarettes has been linked to health risks, mental health problems, and addiction. Schools are increasingly looking for ways to keep students safe from this new form of nicotine consumption. One way schools have been tackling this problem is by installing vaping detectors in their buildings, perfect for areas a camera cannot be placed - either due to legality such as in bathrooms or due to cost/convenience.

The use of vaping detectors in schools has become more prevalent as the number of school-aged children using e-cigarettes has increased drastically over the past few years. Especially with the rise of 'Elf' bars, known as disposable vapes, in the UK, vapes are becoming a lot easier to access. According to the latest data from the annual YouGov survey, vaping amongst school children is up from 4% in 2020 to 7% in 2022. Disposable vapes seem to be the favourite for the youth, with current vapers using disposable vapes rising from 7% in 2020 to a massive 52% in 2022.

We discussed the range of benefits to installing these devices in our blog post ‘Vape Detectors for Schools from The Safety Centre’, these included:

  • They can help deter kids from vaping in the first place. Vape detectors can create a sense of insecurity for kids, making them less likely to vape in school.
  • They can help catch kids who are vaping in the act. This can help educators address the issue and get kids the help they need.
  • Vaping is hard to detect without special detectors – it doesn’t have a distinct smell and doesn’t cling to clothes like cigarette or marijuana smoke does.
  • Vape detectors can help protect kids from the dangers of nicotine addiction and lung problems. It helps you to strike up a conversation on vaping as a serious and harmful issue. Nicotine is extremely addictive and can harm adolescent brain development and the toxins from vapes can cause irreversible lung damage.
  • Parents will see that you’re taking steps to tackle vaping prevention.
  • They can help deter kids from turning to cigarettes – young people who vape are much more likely to become smokers in the future compared to young people who don’t vape due to the nicotine addiction they could potentially develop.

Why Schools Need to Implement Anti-Vaping Security Strategies

It is important for schools to implement anti-vaping security strategies to ensure safety in the school environment.

Vaping has also been shown to have negative side effects that can jeopardize the health of both users and bystanders. Vape pens produce vapours that contain nicotine and other chemicals that are known carcinogens or toxins that can be harmful when inhaled or absorbed through skin contact. The vapours may also contain metals such as nickel, lead, arsenic, and more.

The Benefits of Using a Vape Detector in Your School

Using a detector in your school is a great way to help protect students from the dangers of vaping. With a vape detector, schools can detect any vaping activity on their premises and take appropriate action to ensure the safety of their students. Not only can this help to discourage students from vaping, but it can also provide an added layer of security for school staff and faculty who would otherwise be unaware of any vaping activities taking place on campus. They are relatively inexpensive and easy to install, making them an invaluable tool for keeping schools safe and healthy.

Can a Smoke Detector Detect Vape?

You might think you've got vape detection covered if you've got a range of smoke detectors installed throughout your building. However, smoke detectors typically don't detect vaping as they are designed to detect smoke and particles that are produced when combustible materials burn. The smoke and particles released from vaping do not contain the same molecules that traditional smoke does, so most smoke detectors are unable to detect vaping.
