Llandudno Hotelier Fined For Fire Safety Order Breaches

A Llandudno hotelier has been fined £8000 under two breaches of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005.

The charges included failure to provide an adequate fire alarm system and also the failure to correctly maintain and service the hotels existing fire alarm and emergency lighting systems.

The hotelier was prosecuted by North Wales Fire and Rescue Service after safety officers discovered the hotel was not complying with the required regulations.

Stuart Millington, senior fire safety manager at North Wales Fire and Rescue Service, said: 'When business owners put their staff and guests at risk of harm from fire and fail repeatedly to improve their safety standards, it is our duty to work to prosecute those who fail to protect others and to ensure the highest levels of safety for the public.'

Fire chiefs are tasked to pro actively work with businesses to ensure an adequate level of fire safety is achieved through it's audit and education programmes.
